Judicious Water Use     Water is necessary for all plants and animals to grow. But industrial agriculture often makes inefficient use of water resources, including planting crops that need a lot of water in arid regions. Heavy irrigation leads to loss of natural river flows. Pesticide use on many farms leads to toxic pollution in our watershed. These practices destroy wetlands and devastate fish and wildlife populations. Sustainable farmers use water judiciously and prevent toxic run-off.
