Fall Pie Contest Winners

Thank you to everyone who came out for CUESA's Fall Pie Contest at our first Jack London Square Farmers Market Harvest Festival in Oakland last Sunday. Despite the morning's heavy rains, our fearless pie bakers submitted 22 delicious and innovative pies featuring the local fall bounty!

Congratulations to our winners:

1st: Ranyee Chiang (left) with Sweet Corn Custard and Pluot Pie

2nd: Reggie Harris (middle) with Sautéed Quince and Pear Pie

3rd: Caroline Chow (right) with Pear and Hazelnut Crumb Pie

A tremendous thanks to our expert panel of pie judges: Ally DeArman of Food Craft Institute, Cheryl Koehler of Edible East Bay, Hope Waggoner of Haven, Mani Niall of Sweet Bar Bakery, Meg Ray and Nancy Kajiyama of Miette, Jaynelle St. Jean, PieTisserie, Frank Sally of Fournée Bakery, and Margo True of Sunset Magazine.

Thank you as well to our generous pie contest prize contributors Fournée Bakery, Haven, PieTisserie, Sweet Bar Bakery, Belcampo Meat Co., Blue Bottle Coffee, Oaktown Spice Shop, and Bed, Bath & Beyond.
