Local Student Grown Organic Seedlings for Sale

Start your winter garden by picking up plant starts from Life Learning Academy students at their tent in the south driveway on Saturday, November 9. They’ll also have herb bundles, flower bouquets, and a few veggies. All proceeds will be reinvested in the school garden program.

Life Learning Academy is one of three local high schools that are participating in Schoolyard to Market, a youth development, entrepreneurship, and gardening program run by CUESA and Urban Sprouts. The following announcement was written by Tatiana Woodward and Aracelia Romero, students at Life Learning Academy.

Students from Life Learning Academy are thrilled to be selling a huge variety of healthy seedlings at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.

The seedlings we’ve started in our garden are all organic, and specifically selected to grow very well in the Bay Area. They took a lot of time, work, and effort.

We are students at a small school on Treasure Island called Life Learning Academy. Our school is about helping us stay on track by working on real world things.

We have a lot of different programs that keep us busy and learning. One of them is gardening. We have our own garden outside that we’ve been working in to grow a lot of beautiful things such as various types of seedlings, flowers, herbs, native plants, and veggies. Our class also does a delivery program on Treasure Island where we deliver vegetables to residents twice a month.

In partnership with CUESA and Urban Sprouts, we offer produce at the Farmers Market to learn real-life customer service skills.

We would like to encourage you to support our school, come check out the deals we’re providing, and pick up some goodies for your garden!
