Slideshows: Asparagus and Eggs

Did you know that asparagus continues to grow after it’s been picked, or that chickens naturally lay fewer eggs in the winter? Those are just a couple juicy tidbits from CUESA’s recent tour to Zuckerman’s Farm and Rolling Oaks Ranch.

At our first stop, fourth-generation farmer Roscoe Zuckerman gave us an up-close view of growing asparagus in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. Then at Rolling Oaks Ranch, egg farmers Charlie and Elizabeth Sowell introduced us to their hens and showed us what “pasture-raised” really means. Take a virtual tour by clicking the images below.
