VIDEO: Farmers Markets Are Essential

In this new video from CUESA, learn why farmers markets are essential to supporting small family farms and feeding families during the pandemic, and creating a sustainable and equitable food future.

CUESA's Ferry Plaza Farmers market is open as an essential service during the pandemic, supporting local farms and providing critical food access for our community. With your support, we’ve also found new ways to connect farmers and our community in this time of great need:

  • We've distributed 1,400+ fresh produce boxes to unemployed hospitality workers and their families through our new Feed Hospitality program.
  • Through the CUESA Farmers Market Box program, we now offer contactless curbside pickup and home delivery for shoppers, while supporting small family farmers and food makers who lost vital income from restaurant closures.
  • We’ve adapted our Foodwise Teens job training program to distance learning, so that students can grow food at home and gain vital job skills at the farmers market.

You are essential to this work! Keep farmers markets thriving, and join us in feeding our community and protecting the people who feed us. Let’s get together to champion a resilient, just, and regenerative food system. Our future and our children’s future depends on it.
