Decorate Boxes for CUESA's Holiday Pie Bake for The Veterans Academy

Saturday, December 24, 2016 - 10:00am to 2:00pm

This holiday season, CUESA volunteers are baking 100 apple pies to donate to senior and disabled veterans at The Veterans Academy, in partnership with Food Runners.

Join us on Saturday, December 24, in the CUESA Classroom from 10 am to 2 pm to decorate the pie boxes with holiday greetings before we fill them with pies and send them off to be enjoyed by residents of The Veterans Academy

Thank you to Frog Hollow Farm, Della Fattoria, Downtown Bakery & Creamery, and Batter Bakery for generously donating pie dough, and to Nana Joes, Three Babes Bakeshop, and Devoto Gardens & Orchards for providing special pricing for ingredients.

The Veterans Academy is a housing site for formerly homeless veterans with disabilities run by Swords to Plowshares and located on a former Army post in San Francisco’s Presidio National Park. Food Runners’ mission is to help alleviate hunger in San Francisco, to help prevent waste, and to help create community. Food Runners picks up excess perishable and prepared food from businesses such as restaurants, caterers, bakeries, hospitals, corporate cafeterias, and farmers markets and delivers it directly to neighborhood food programs.

CUESA (Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture) is dedicated to growing thriving communities through the power and joy of local food. Learn More »
