A Conversation with Deborah Madison, author of In My Kitchen

Thursday, April 27, 2017 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Stop by the CUESA Classroom at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Thursday, April 27, for a special appearance by author Deborah Madison, in conversation with the San Francisco Chronicle’s Sarah Fritsche. The talk will be followed by a book signing of Deborah’s new book In My Kitchen, thanks to our friends at Book Passage.

Deborah Madison is the award-winning author of 14 cookbooks, including The New Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone and Vegetable Literacy. She is well known for her seasonal, vegetable-based cooking. She got her start in the San Francisco Bay Area at Chez Panisse restaurant before opening Greens. Madison has received the M.F.K. Fisher Mid-Career Award from Les Dames d’Escoffier International, and her books have received four James Beard Foundation Awards and five awards from the International Association of Culinary Professionals. In 2016, she was inducted into the James Beard Foundation Cookbook Hall of Fame. She lives in New Mexico.

In My Kitchen is Deborah’s most personal cookbook. It takes you inside her home, reflecting how she cooks and eats today—with sophisticated and layered recipes that have been pared down and perfected after years of refinement. The more than one hundred recipes included here showcase Deborah’s style of carefully considered, forgiving, and endlessly adaptable recipes—perfect as they are, but also ripe for modification and improvisation.

This event takes place at the CUESA Classroom tent in front of the Ferry Building and is free to the public. Limited seating will be available (first come, first served), and there will be standing room around the periphery.
