Join CUESA at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market for a conversation with acclaimed nutritionist, professor, and author Marion Nestle, and Real Food Media’s Tiffani Patton. They will be discussing Nestle’s new book, Unsavory Truth: How Food Companies Skew the Science of What We Eat.

Marion Nestle is Paulette Goddard Professor of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health, emerita, at New York University, and Visiting Professor of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell. She has a Ph.D. in molecular biology and an MPH in public health nutrition from UC Berkeley. She lives in New York City. She writes at foodpolitics.com, and tweets at @MarionNestle.

A lifelong “foodie,” Tiffani Patton has been writing and researching food system change for over five years after being radicalized by The Political Economy of Food and Agriculture, a course taught by Julie Guthman. Particularly activated by the nexus of race and food, Tiffani is an advocate for just food systems and can be found talking to anyone who will listen about these topics. She supports several areas of educational programming, communications strategy, and internal operations at Real Food Media. A gifted writer and storyteller, she draws on these skills as content curator and managing editor for the Real Food Scoop newsletter and the Real Food Reads bookclub, of which she is a new co-host. She holds an MBA and an MPA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School.

This event is free and takes place at the CUESA Classroom tent in front of the Ferry Building. Limited seating will be available (first come, first served), and there will be standing room around the periphery.

The talk will be followed by book sales and signing in the market, thanks to Book Passage.
