Stop by the CUESA Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, followed by a book signing at Book Passage in the Ferry Building Marketplace.

Abra Berens is the chef at Granor Farm in Three Oaks, Michigan. She trained at Ballymaloe in County Cork, Ireland, and Zingerman’s Delicatessen in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She strives to connect people with their food both through dinners and progressive food policy—helping to further a food system where farmers earn a living wage, protect our environment through agriculture, and waste as little food as possible. She lives in Galien, Michigan, with her husband, Erik, and their two dogs.

Ruffage is the cookbook that promises to elevate vegetable driven cooking. Author Abra Berens—chef, farmer, Midwesterner—shares a collection of recipes and techniques that result in new flavors, textures, and ways to enjoy all the vegetables you want to eat. Berens wants readers to feel more empowered to shop, store, and cook vegetables everyday in an approachable way.

All demos take place in the CUESA Classroom (under the CUESA tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
