The Food Change | Climate Chaos, Food Solutions

Wednesday, July 10, 2019 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Food is responsible for up to one third of all greenhouse gases, which means how our food is grown has become more urgent and important than ever. How are farmers adapting to climate chaos? Can agriculture be a force for good in the fight against climate change? Can soil sequester massive amounts of carbon? And how can we each do our part to change our world?

Farming is a public service and quite revolutionary in its simplicity. When we care for the soil through regenerative farming, agroecology, and biodiversity, we can help reverse some of the impacts of climate change. Practices like seed saving help farmers adapt to severe climate conditions that threaten our food supply. Through community-based food systems, we can begin the transition to a climate economy that is ecologically sustainable, equitable, and just for all. Soil solutions to climate chaos are in our collective hands!

Join CUESA, Real Food Media, and activists who are working at the intersection of food and climate justice. Drawing on Real Food Media’s newly released organizing toolkit, Tackling Climate Change through Food, we will also dig into solutions that all of us can participate in to build the movement to heal our planet.

This talk is part of a series diving into the themes of The Food Change, a new multifaceted educational project from CUESA.
