Thyme

A highly fragrant yet delicate herb, thyme is native to the mint family, and is one of the most versatile culinary herbs. Ranking as one of the finest herbs of French cuisine, thyme adds an elegant lemon, mint, and pepper flavor to soups, stews, roasted meats, pasta sauces, and savory egg dishes.

Not only delicious, thyme also boasts numerous health benefits. Thymol, a volatile oil present in thyme, has been found to protect and even increase the amount of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids in the brain, kidney, and heart cell membranes. A highly soothing herb, thyme is also commonly added to teas, bath salts, and ointments to help relieve inflammation and pain. Its oil contains thymol, a natural antiseptic.
