Group Volunteer Opportunities

When you volunteer with CUESA, you get a hands-on experience that engages all your senses in learning about and creating a healthier food system. When you and your team spread fresh soil at a school garden, you will have a direct experience in expanding access to fresh food in our community.

CUESA coordinates school garden greening for groups of 10-20. Volunteers help with maintenance or building projects at one of the San Francisco public high schools that participates in CUESA’s Foodwise Teens program. Current schools are located in the Mission and Glen Park neighborhood. Tour the gardens, visit the bees, then roll up your sleeves and grab a shovel to make the garden ready for the next semester of students.

Participants enjoy an experience that builds community within their team, deepens understanding of sustainable food systems, and ends by sharing a delicious meal. In a single shift, you’ll be helping to feed and educate hundreds of people in our city.

For all group volunteer sessions, three to four hours of work in the morning or afternoon will include market snacks. CUESA requests 30 days notice to coordinate your group volunteer activity and will assess a nominal administrative fee.

Please contact Volunteer Coordinator Cindy Mendoza at [email protected] or (415) 291-3276 to learn more. We look forward to working with you and your group to learn more about your local food system!
