Public Health Updates for CUESA's Farmers Markets

The entire CUESA team wishes to express our deepest gratitude to all of you for doing your part over the past 15 months as we weathered the many changes and realities of COVID-19 in our communities. Your partnership, flexibility, and support have kept our farmers markets thriving, and sustained our spirits all through this challenging year. Thank you for supporting our local farms and food businesseskeeping our community safe and nourished, and contributing to a resilient and sustainable local food system.

We are hopeful that more restrictions will be lifted in the coming weeks, and look forward to a return to sampling and programs that highlight the vibrant bounty of our market community. Check back for updates.

Please keep the following guidelines in mind as you are shopping at CUESA’s farmers markets. Thank you for keeping farmers markets safe and open, and we look forward to seeing your smiles at the farmers market!

Guidelines for CUESA’s Farmers Markets (Updated June 18, 2021)

CUESA continues to adhere to the policies and recommendations of the San Francisco Department of Public Health, California Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control. We’ll continue to update our guidelines on this page and communicate them to sellers and shoppers in our farmers markets accordingly. Please visit the CUESA Info Booth or contact us at [email protected] if you have questions.

  • As of June 15, 2021, shoppers are no longer required to wear masks or face coverings in CUESA’s farmers markets.
  • Market sellers and their staff and CUESA employees and volunteers are not required to wear masks while working outdoors, regardless of their vaccination status.
  • Masks are recommended for unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, and high-risk or immunocompromised shoppers and sellers, for their own health and safety and the safety of our community.
  • No one will be denied entry to the farmers market on the basis of their vaccination status or face covering. Mask wearing is on the honor system, and CUESA will not be checking vaccination status. We respect everyone’s personal choice to continue to wear masks at their discretion.
  • Masks are still required to be worn by everyone inside the Ferry Building Marketplace, regardless of your vaccination status, per California Department of Public Health requirements for transportation hubs. Please keep a mask on hand to wear when entering the Ferry Building Marketplace.
  • Physical distancing will no longer be required or enforced at individual farmers market seller stands. We ask that you be mindful of your own comfort level and respectful of others while shopping in the market.
  • Food handling and self-service is at the discretion of individual farmers market sellers.
  • Food sampling and cooking demos in the farmers market are still on hiatus until further notice.
  • CUESA will continue to provide handwashing stations in the farmers market.
  • For market rules for sellers, see CUESA’S COVID 19 Guidelines & SOP for Farmers Markets.

Please continue to extend patience, kindness, and care for your community as we all navigate these changes together. Thank you!
