Candied Orange Peel

Candied orange peel can be a delicious addition to rice dishes, baked goods, etc.

Serves 8


4 oranges
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
2 teaspoons saffron water



  1. With a potato peeler remove the zest only from the oranges.

  2. Julienne the pieces of zest and blanch 3 times in 8 cups of water draining after each.
  3. Dissolve 2 cups sugar in 1 cup of water over low heat. Add orange peel and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Add saffron water and stir well.
  4. Cool and refrigerate for future use.
