Rick Kellner, along with 30 full- and 29 part-time employees.

In 2004, Rick Kellner wanted to raise the bar for breads and baked goods in the Bay Area, while finding a way to create jobs and to feed his community responsibly. Years later, he’s done just that with two bakeries complete with storefronts in Alameda. One bakery is dedicated to seasonally inspired fresh fruit tarts, turnovers, and pies, while the other primarily focuses on specialty breads like their extra-long fermentation sourdough, 20-hour fermented rye, and super-seeded cheese sticks. Creativity is the name of the game at this French-inspired American bakery. Any excess items are donated to the community, so nothing goes to waste.

Feel Good sources GMO-free flour from Keith Giusto Bakery Supply in Petaluma, and all whole grains are organic. Fruits and nuts are sourced directly from local farms. Trucks dispatched from the bakeries deliver to each farmers market location the same morning they are baked.

Fun Fact

Feel Good Bakery offers workshops to schools, allowing the students to make breads, beginning with the “starter” and proceeding through the baking process.
