About

Ground Stew Farms was founded by Sergio Jimenez, and Nicholas Ayala took over the operation in February 2018 after the two met  at the Ecological Farming Conference. Prior to Ground Stew Farms, Nicholas worked in accounting for 6 years, and then moved to Salinas to pursue agriculture by completing the Agriculture & Land-Based Training Association (ALBA) program. Nick was inspired by YouTube videos from Jean-Martin Fortier and Curtis Stone because they made farming sound accessible for those with little experience or resources. Nick has felt rewarded and proud  to sell his organic produce at farmers markets. At the end of his market days, Nick donates any leftover produce to Food Runners and the Alameda Community Food Bank.

Fun Fact

Situated in the Elkhorn Slough watershed, Ground Stew Farms is home to many native frog species, including the American Bullfrog, California Red-Legged Frog, and Pacific Tree Frog.
