Farmland
10 acres in Sebastopol, about 55 miles from the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.
Farm History
Farming has been part of the Hale family for 120 years. Dave is one of the few remaining farmers in Sebastopol that continues to honor the tradition of apple farming in the area. The Hales’ 20 acres are farmed traditionally with minimal pesticides. Dave is personally involved with the entire growing and harvesting process to maintain his high production standards. Each apple tree is cared for individually and mostly by hand to ensure the highest quality fruit. Hale’s Apple Farm grows more than 30 varieties of heirloom apples as well as other crops, delivering fresh fruit to the farmers market with pride and confidence. Dave favors apple variety, flavor, and freshness over fruit that simply keeps its good looks while degrading on the shelf.
Fun Fact
Hale’s Apple Farm is one of the founding members of the Mission Community Market. Each year, they contribute pumpkins to the market’s Halloween celebration for families to enjoy.
