Francisco and Erika Resendiz, along with 15 full-time and 25 part-time employees.

33 acres in Hughson, California, around 90 miles to Jack London Square Farmers Market.

After years of experience as a farmworker, Francisco was able to save up and buy his farm in 1988, with the vision also making it a place for families to visit. When the Resendiz Family Fruit Barn opened, it was just one cooler and a roadside stand. Thirty years later, the Fruit Barn has expanded into a store selling pies as well as the farm’s wide selection of summer fruit, plus a corn maze and pumpkin patch in the fall. Francisco puts community first and now welcomes 6,000 local kids from 200 schools to his farm every year. Students learn about water preservation and the importance of agriculture in Hughson, which was once known as the “Peach Capital of the World.”

Fun Fact

Before opening his farm, Francisco spotted a sign that read “Agriculture Feeds the World.” This motto has given him inspiration through his years of farming and remains his mission to this day.
